Secretary General
Stephanie de Durfort (*1974), is the Secretary General of the Amfort Center, where she leads the organization’s efforts to provide expert guidance and strategic support to nonprofit organizations and NGOs around the world. With nearly two decades of experience in international development, nonprofit management, and social innovation, Stephanie is dedicated to empowering mission-driven organizations to navigate complex challenges and maximize their social impact.
Since taking on her role in 2018, Stephanie has overseen the Amfort Center’s global consulting initiatives, working closely with NGO leaders to develop tailored solutions that address pressing issues such as poverty alleviation, human rights advocacy, and sustainable development. Her leadership has been instrumental in expanding the Center’s influence, fostering partnerships with a diverse range of organizations from grassroots movements to global institutions. Under her guidance, the Center has become known for its rigorous approach to problem-solving, blending research, strategy, and capacity-building to help NGOs thrive in an increasingly complex and competitive environment.
Stephanie’s expertise spans a wide array of fields, including organizational development, governance, and impact measurement. She is passionate about helping NGOs strengthen their internal structures and strategic frameworks so they can be more agile and effective in achieving their goals. Prior to joining the Amfort Center, Stephanie held senior positions at various international NGOs, where she played a key role in shaping high-impact programs and advocating for policy changes.
A recognized thought leader in nonprofit consulting, Stephanie is a sought-after speaker at global conferences and an active contributor to publications on NGO leadership and development. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics. Fluent in multiple languages, Stephanie divides her time between Geneva, Paris and London, where she remains deeply engaged in supporting community-based organizations.
